History of the company
Buckley, Smith and Partners was formed as chartered surveyors in 1982. It started with 30 fee owners and back up staff carrying out professional advice across the commercial property spectrum. The client base at the time included Debenhams, Qantas, DHL, Beecham, Smith and Kline, Barratts and many other nationally acclaimed organisations. In particular we had acquisition of over 20 B and Q sites and 100 instructions from Debenhams. The practice then moved towards retail development and investment in the late eighties and early nineties. The redevelopment and oblique refurbishment of department stores including a number of House of Fraser and Debenhams. Moving into the 21st century the emphasis moved towards the acquisition of letting and funding supermarkets. We worked with Asda on many of their major stores such as Hayes, Folkestone, Cheltenham, South Ruislip, Cricklewood and Barnet. We also had many sites for Tesco and Sainsburys. Following the success of major residential developments in Cheltenham and Whitney, both with over 200 residential units, where B,S&P acquired the opportunity and gave planning advice. Furthermore, following planning a then successful sale to national house builders. Present Day Today, we are currently looking at repositioning retail assets with residential and leisure elements to bring life back into the challenging retail market. Buckley, Smith and Partners are well placed with their wealth of expertise to capitalise on the need for more residential and leisure accommodation both for sale and to rent, in particular seeking to acquire more property opportunities for in house clients who have resources of between £5 and £50 million. |
